IIT Delhi Announces New Admission Criteria for 2024
IIT Delhi has announced significant changes to its admission criteria for the 2024 academic year. These changes are aimed at making the admission process more inclusive and accessible to students from diverse backgrounds.
Key Changes in Admission Process
The new criteria include several important changes that will affect how students are selected for various programs:
- Reduced weightage for JEE Advanced scores from 60% to 40%
- Increased focus on academic performance in Class 12 (now 30% weightage)
- New provisions for students from rural areas (10% additional weightage)
- Special consideration for female candidates (20% weightage)
- Introduction of personal interview round (10% weightage)
Impact on Students
According to the institute's director, these changes are part of a broader initiative to promote diversity and ensure equal opportunities for all students. The new admission process will be implemented starting from the 2024-25 academic session.
